As a composer and lyricist, Larry has co-written songs with Desmond Child (multi Grammy awards), Larry Hochman (Tony and Emmy award winner), Izzy James and long-time collaborator Daniel Freiberg (Platinum Record and Grammy award winner).

Larry has worked with some of the biggest names in the music business, such as Larry Rosen and Dave Grusin at GRP records, Steve Gadd, Anthony Jackson, Dave Valentin, Angella Bofill, Tania Maria, Tito Puente and Michael Franks. Larry worked at The Hit Factory, NYC with artists like Janis Ian, Rick Derringer and Dion. At Bobby Columby's Camp Columby Studio, he recorded and mixed tracks for a number of great artists and producers. Desmond Child was among those who Larry first worked with there. He recorded many tracks for Desmond including the Bon Jovi demos that became "You Give Love A Bad Name" and "Livin' On A Prayer".

As a vocalist, Gates has been heard on numerous local and national commercials including Nestles, Kodak, Minwax, Hasbro and others.

Now, in addition to producing albums for other artists, Larry Gates is working on a vocal album of his own which will include original songs as well as covers of some favorite classics. Long-time friend and former Four Seasons member Lee Shapiro is co-producing. "I'm finally treating myself like I treat my clients and I like it!"
